The Changes in American Wars Wars have had a great effect on our world and have secured the future and freedom of our country. Modern American Wars have changed American political viewpoints and even how the military is used. My viewpoints on war have been formulated and changed throughout this unit and I now have a different perspective on why America should fight in wars. Changes in American fighting show how important these modern wars are and effect how we will fight wars in the future. There have been many major changes in American wars between the time of the Vietnam War and the War on Terrorism. Although changes may seem gradual, now that many of our major wars have passed, we can look back and discover some major changes in the uses of our military and in American political viewpoints. Modern wars have not been something that I have heavily learned about in the past, so I thought that all of the wars were valid. After this unit, I no longer think that all of the wars, especially Vietnam and Korea, should have been fought. I believe that we should have pulled our soldiers out of Vietnam and Korea much sooner than we did because it wasn't our war to fight, and we lost many American lives in the process. I understand more thoroughly how we got into each of the wars and why the current American view on each of the wars is what it is today. This allows me to create my own beliefs on war, and I believe that war is sometimes needed in certain situations. I am not opposed to war, however I do believe that the war needs to be fought for a valid reason. This reason, in my opinion, would be an attack to the USA or our allies, or a severe violation on human rights. This unit has helped me formulate these beliefs and definitely changed how I view
