To begin in order to fully understanding this chapter a considerable amount of reading was needed as well as an extensive time in order to fully understand all that was wrote. For a first time learner some of the topic discussed were extremely difficult to fully understand and follow but with much time and consideration I can now say that I am well versed if all things Constitution. In chapter 2 it started out laying down some of the fundamentals to properly understanding what the Constitution to start off the U.S Constitution was written in 1787 and contains around three hundred words. The Constitution was originally created for an agricultural society. Next the book states that the Constitution is the supreme law of the land which ultimately
The Constitution of the United States was written in 1787, but there was a grapple for its ratification that went on until about two decades after the ratification. Members of Congress believed that the first government of the United States or the Articles of Confederation, needed to be adjusted while others did not want anything to change. After the Revolutionary War, the people did not want a strong central government, because it reminded them too much of what they were trying to escape from. Under the Articles, each state had their own laws, and the need for a new Constitution was desired by many. The Constitution of 1787 created huge debates, arguments and splits in the nation that lasted for several year after its ratification between people who
Then once the proposal is approved, the governor can't do anything to get rid of the proposal and it continues to go on. Which leads to the point of the amendments becoming so much more frequent. In that case the total number of Texas amendments in the constitution continues to keep growing bigger and
To pass an amendment you need to have two-thirds of the members in both houses voting. Another way to pass an amendment is by two-thirds of the state legislatures asking Congress for a convention to propose amendments. Through the process, the formal amendment process must occur in three-fourths of the state legislatures or a favorable vote of three-fourths of all of the states. The process looks this way because the Founders did not want the government to be able to

Anello’s collection, “Photographs of Southeast Asia and Morocco”, focuses on the domestic architecture of rural areas and cultures. The Texas Constitution amended so often because it was not written very well. Texas is currently governed by its sixth constitution, which ratified in 1876. The Texas Constitution illustrates how the political system was a chaos, since in the 1876 Constitution, there was already five predecessors in only forty years. In comparison with the U.S Constitution, which was relatively simple when it came to talk about the national system, the Texas Constitution was completely complex and confusing. Another reason why the Texas Constitution was amended so many times it was because they didn 't have a strong government like the U.S Constitution did.
In this unit I learned about the procedures that follow the aftermath of an event in which the President is incapable to perform his or her responsibilities and duties as President of the United States of America. Before I started this portfolio I did not know the specific procedures that the President and Congress must follow when determining if the President can serve his country. I also learned who will fill in the spot of the successor if both the President and Vice President were unable to fulfill their duties. I now understand the purpose and procedures of the Presidential Succession Act and the 25th amendment.
If a bill is denied at any point in the process it is then throw away and forgotten. The process begins with the introduction of the bill to either the house or the senate. To introduce a bill in the House of Representatives, a state representative must first submit the required number of
There is no doubt that the United States’ immigration system has weaknesses. These weaknesses have led to thousands of illegal or undocumented immigrants staying in this country. To rectify this issue, some politicians have recommended amending the 14th Amendment from the Constitution, thereby eliminating birthright citizenship. The politicians suggesting this change claim that giving automatic citizenship to people born within the physical boundaries of the United States encourages illegals to enter and remain in the United States. However, amending the 14th Amendment would be a mistake.
This shows that term limits in the Supreme Court became more important. For example, if they have more mature members, they would understand the law, and would understand the politics and their decisions on the society. Mr. Ingraham stated
The States send delegates to this convention, where they can propose amendments to the Constitution. Then, three-fourths of the states must ratify an amendment approved by the convention, either by their legislatures or special ratifying
They contend that a longer and more flexible one is more effective in preserving the government’s authority by establishing it with more specific powers. In addition, they argue it is more responsive to contemporary political issues via frequent amendments. At first glance, it may make sense to delineate certain political matters as a basis for future decisions. However, this fails to consider how a constitution cannot by itself account for every single public policy. The debates at the Maryland Constitutional Convention from 1967 to 1968 reflect this reality.
Facts Amendment 2 was added to Colorado’s Sate constitution by a statewide referendum it prohibited the state or local government from adopting measures that protect homosexuals as a class from discrimination. Richard Evans, a homosexual works for Denver Mayor brought a law suit against Romer the Governor of Colorado State on the grounds that Amendment 2 was unconstitutional. Issue Does Amendment 2 of Colorado’s State constitution discriminate against homosexual orientation?
In very rare instances, the Constitution changes with the adding of amendments. Although this action is only done rarely it does still occur in our government today regardless of the rarity. This sort of action is so rare because the amount of people that must deem this proposed action to become a part of the Constitution of the United States. Congressmen on occasion do produce amendments on which they surmise vital enough to add. Proposed amendments seldom have the opportunity to be added and officially become amendments.
Two changes I would make in the constitution both fall into the second article. This is the article concerning the presidential election process and duties. While other articles could of course be modified in some way or another, I find that the two changes I came up with could be agreed with by almost everyone. I tried to make these decision not based on how I feel about politics and my beliefs, but instead I made my decisions based on what is best for everybody. I wanted to put my political affiliation aside for this question because in the grand scheme of things what I will suggest are things that could legitimately be addressed without too much complication.
