The crucible introduced a very interesting point of view of Salem, where life was strict and anyone that does not go to church or associate with God was scorned by the people in the city. The ten bible commandments were to be respected and honored by everyone, which it was- in front of the town’s people. However these commandments were broken by Abigail and John Proctor. The number of people that die for the belief that witchcraft was performed was enormous and changed Salem forever.

Once John Proctor dies because he is unwilling to give up the only thing he has left, his name, Elizabeth is heart broken, even while knowing that he did the right thing. She feels hopeless knowing that the only thing keeping her alive is the baby she is carrying. This is not the life she wanted, she know of only the life she had with her husband and children. However Judge Danforth decided to let Elizabeth go for the sake of her children that did not deserve any of this. This news, she never expected beyond her wildest imaginations. Elizabeth was released one week before her childbirth, but little did she know that it would be the last week of her life. The town and the people were not the same after that event, and Judge Danforth saw how the killings had affected the town and made a resolution to be less harsh during judgement for things he does not believe in such as witchcraft.
