The purpose of a written play is to allow the audience to have a chance of imagining and interpreting a play in their own way. The 1996 Hollywood film version of The Crucible takes this broad area of imaginations and uses it to cultivate a wide range of moments within the film that creates a better sense of understanding and emphasis of the play 's main idea. For example, in the introduction of the 1996 Hollywood film version of The Crucible they make a point of starting the movie with the scene of the girls dancing in the woods with Tituba. The construction of this scene creates a contrast with the book where we were only told that this event had happened as opposed to actually witnessing it ourselves. Therefore the creation of that opening
