Father’s Impact on Christopher
In The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time Father is the most influential person in Christopher's life because he is caring but also emotional which is a good and a bad influence on Christopher because Christopher can't handle emotions. I don't think that Christopher or his father know how to express their emotions very well. One scenario where Father made a bad parenting choice is when Christopher keeps writing a book that his dad told him not to write and his dad finds his book. This part of the book turns bad when Christopher's dad starts saying things like this. "Holy (expletive) Jesus Christopher. How stupid are you?... What the (expletive) …show more content…

And father said, "(expletive) Christopher please." and there were tears dripping down his face.” This doesn’t make much sense to me because I think that Christopher would have more trust in his Father after his speech that Christopher overhears and he also should have more trust in his father because his mother left him. I also think that Father is a good person and he should be viewed as a good person in the book but really he isn’t. And overall I think that Father also has his fair share of caching and kind moments that are highlighted in the book. One of Father's best moments is when Christopher runs away and goes to live with his mother and Father comes to her house and they get into an argument and at one point in their argument Mother shouts “ I wrote to him every week. I looked after him when he was ill. I took him to the doctor. I worried myself sick …show more content…

“It was 1:12 a.m. when Father arrived at the police station. I did not see him until 1:28 a.m. but I knew that he was there because I could hear him. He was shouting, “I want to see my son,” and “Why the hell is he locked up?” and “Of course I’m bloody angry.” Then I heard the policeman telling him to calm down. Then I heard nothing for a while. At 1:28 a.m. a policeman opened the door and told me there was someone to see me. I stepped outside. Father was standing in the corridor. He held up his right hand and spread his fingers out in a fan. I held up my left hand and spread my fingers out in a fan and we made our fingers and thumbs touch each other. We do this because sometimes Father wants to give me a hug, but I do not like hugging people so we do this instead, and it means that he loves me.” (p.g. 16 Haddon)I think that this quote is important because even though Christopher does a lot of stupid stuff in this book his father is pretty cool about handling most of the stuff, and most parents would go crazy handling Christopher. And Father doesn’t even hug his own child because Christopher doesn’t like it. And as a result of Fathers influence on Christopher, Christopher is scared enough to
