In the curious incident of a dog in the night-time, the character Ed Boone is the father of our main character, Christopher. Christopher's father, Ed Boone, is a single parent to Christopher, who is autistic. Ed Boone is a conflicted person because he is very quick-tempered, and at times shows no remorse for his actions, but he also tries to ensure Christopher is happy.
The first reason why Ed Boone is a conflicted person is that he is extremely quick-tempered. An example of this is in chapter 127. Ed Boone is a contradictory person because he, in parts of the book, is very hot-headed and makes ill-thought decisions. The second thing which makes him a conflicting person is that for certain things he has done he shows no guilt for having done them. The last reason why Ed Boone is a contradictory person is that even though he makes many unscrupulous choices, he does love and feels concerned for Christopher and his future, so he tries to ensure that Christopher can have a successful and bright future. Though, one might say that Christopher's father, isn't a conflicting person because he just was stressed and didn't know what to do and got caught up in emotion which led him to do things like lie about Christopher's mother and not let him contact her, kill Wellington or grab his arm but there are plenty of people like my father who were single parents to autistic children and my dad would never grab my half sisters arm especially if she felt the same way as Christopher about touch regardless of what was going on or if there were upset at each other. So, finally, that is why Ed Boone is a conflicted
