One theme is continually shown throughout The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time: becoming independent and growing up. Because Christopher is an autistic teenage boy, he depends on a lot of people to help him every day, like when his dad makes his meals for him. However, Christopher wants to be independents and he shows his longing for that through his actions and words. He even has dreams of living alone, with no parental figures helping him out. Through dialect and thoughts in the novel, I could also see that Christopher was trying to set himself up for a life without his father by taking his A-Levels, which will allow him to get into college, where he wants to live alone. However, the most obvious example of independence was when
