(The lie breaking the family, loving for his mom) By Christopher leaving his dad it breaks their trust with each other and chemistry after how long they have been living together. As soon as he read the letter from his mom he felt love for her back as he never seen her in a long time. Later on this causes a big kaios for his dad as he runs away as Christopher love couldn't be stopped for his mother. Christopher mentions he doesn't care about someone or feel love for someone when their dead but that was before he had believed his dad lie. This could of been fixed from the beginning if his dad just told the truth. By doing this Christopher would of stayed and their family wouldn't be devastated. Haddon conveys the message through the use of the symbol the dog that the father gave. Mother and father and Christopher are in Christopher's dad house and their family is back together. Christopher dad apologizes of what he did and buys Christopher a dog: “Then he came back through and gave me the dog. And he said he's two months old and he's a golden retriever the father said, Christopher I would never ever do anything thing to hurt you’’( Haddon219). The dog
Christopher’s Distorted Emotion We all have different viewpoints and the past few months have been crazy with the recent election season. Many people are very sturdy in their beliefs and can 't seem to think what the other person sees in the opposite candidate. That 's how Christopher see the entire world, in a totally opposite view point than others. In the novel The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time author Mark Haddon writes about a boy named Christopher who is trying to solve the mystery, of who killed his neighbor 's dog Wellington. Along the way he runs into problems that occur because of his emotional disorder.
Sadhu Vaswani once said that “ True love is selfless. It is prepared to sacrifice” and that to her, love is not limited. When someone loves someone else they will do everything for them. In Mark Haddon’s, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time, Christopher lives with his dad after his mother's apparent death, which turns out to be false. Both of his parents have taken care of him for an amount of time and have both had successes and failures.
Christopher is a shy young boy, with a disability and he is under his father’s authority, which disallows him to do multiple actions. During the first investigation, Christopher opens up his shell and starts to talk “I decided that I would go and ask some of the other people who lived in our street if they had seen anyone killing Wellington or whether they had seen anything strange happening in the street on Thursday night” (Haddon 34). This shows that Christopher can and will accomplish is goal even though he is overcoming one of his largest fears. Another example of Christopher overcoming adversity is the several times when he goes around his father’s authority to solve the mystery. Another example of how Christopher is coming out of his shell is the time he goes to the candy store to buy candy.
As he investigates the case, truths that he never thought would be real turn out to take over his life. As Christopher’s world is shaken by deceits by those he loves and hope from those unexpected, the Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime
Near the beginning of the book, Christopher’s father tells him to, “Just try and keep your nose out of other people’s business” because he tried to figure out who killed the dog. Despite this, Christopher kept searching, which would have broken his father’s trust and betrayed his love. Christopher’s father becomes angry that he is still searching for information and lashes out at him. Despite this, Christopher’s father shows that he still loves him by taking him to Twycross Zoo. Even with Christopher’s betrayal of his father’s trust, his father still loves him.
Shear’s dog serves as a metaphor for his determination and his exploration of the truth and understanding of the complexities in his life. When the police dismiss Christopher's suspicions about the neighbor's son, Christopher takes matters into his own hands and confronts the neighbor directly, saying "I am going to find out who killed the dog because it is my responsibility" (Haddon, pg. 121). Despite facing numerous challenges and setbacks, Christopher refuses to give up and continues to follow leads and collect evidence without fear. This no quit mentality ultimately leads him to the truth and allows him to solve the mystery. In addition to Christopher’s investigation into the murder of his neighbor's dog, Haddon also uses Christopher's personal challenges to highlight his determination in overcoming
Once Christopher finds out that his dad was the one that killed the dog, he wonders what else his father was hiding. At this point in the story Christopher has lost all trust in his father and even goes as far as to say "I don't want to talk to Father anymore. (pg. 218). Once Christopher's
One of these are the reveal that Christopher’s mother was alive for the last two years. With this knowledge, Christopher goes to London and rekindle the relationships with his parents, resulting in a better life. All things considered, “The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time” is not just a simple murder mystery novel, but a book about the fears of everyday people, which when confronted with courage, can end with success. When confronted with the murder of Wellington, Christopher begins to start to overcome his social disability by trying to solve it. Due to his love of dogs, something he is passionate about, Christopher
Hadden’s use of the theme truth and lies shows that “it’s impossible” to tell the truth all the time and gives justice for Ed’s reaction as everyone, even Christopher “tells lies”. Although Ed’s reactions seem harsh, he also presents emotional reactions when he faces the challenge of regaining Christopher’s trust. Ed exploits his trust with Christopher after telling him his mother dies, he is persistent in getting it back. He decides to make “a project” that they “have to do together” in order to gain each other trust. Hadden’s challenging theme of trust and use of characterisation creates these conflicts and different reactions.
And Father had lied about it” (Haddon 112). This quote shows an example of conflict because Christopher now knows
When Christopher finds out that his father killed Wellington and hid the truth about his mom, Christopher's conscience tells him that he must leave to live with his mother. "I had to get out of the house. Father had murdered Wellington. That meant he could murder me, because I couldn't trust him, even though he said, "Trust me," because he had told a lie about a big thing" (122 Haddon). This quote is significant because it shows that Christopher's journey begins as a result of a traumatic experience.
Christopher was already aware that his mother had left and had been struggling with the emotional consequences of her absence. Lying to him only served to further confuse and distress him, as he struggled to reconcile the lie with his own experiences. Moreover, Christopher's father's lie was motivated by his own self-interest. He lied to protect himself from Christopher's rejection and to avoid having to face the difficult emotions associated with his wife's abandonment.
Though, when the killing of the neighbour's dog, Wellington occurs, Christopher's carefully constructive universe is threatened. Christopher's father, Ed Boone's temper is proven to have caused him to murder the dog and also lie to his son about his mother. When Ed confesses his crimes to Christopher, he refers to his temper metaphorically as "when that red mist comes down …". Haddon's realistic portrayal of family is shown to be destroyed as Ed's temper is what is undoing his relationship with Christopher. Haddon’s portrayal of Ed Boone allows him to represent interesting ideas about the family unit.
Christopher grew up without knowing much about the world and life it self. He acts as what many would say a child. This is due to his Aspergers. In the beginning of the novel Christopher explains what he thinks of life.
Father states, "I did it for your good, Christopher" (Haddon, 114)... " Christopher I would never, ever do anything to hurt you" (Haddon, 219). These two quotes represent how much Christopher’s father would do for him, no matter how bad it is. Also it helps prove that father would never ever try to hurt Christopher. Although Christopher’s father is not perfect he still tries his hardest to raise Christopher all by himself.
