Thousands of kids get abandoned by their moms every year. It’s not entirely there fault, there are many reasons that women abandon their kids. “Ninety-two % of women said social or "other" factors were the reason behind their abortion. Only seven percent said physical problems or possible health problems with the baby were the reason, and only 0.5% said they were seeking an abortion because they had been raped. Bad timing was the most common reason women gave for having an abortion-they weren't ready to have another child. Not being able to afford a child (or another child) was the second most important reason given.” However, these abandoned kids are not lost and most of them eventually get homes with loving families.

Adoption means a legal process that allows someone to become the parent of a child, even though the parent and child are not related by blood. The prospective adoptive family wants to provide the adoptive child with a loving home and family. The family accepts the child for who they are - even their faults. Understanding that the child has a history and heritage that also needs to be respected and embraced. They hope to make lasting memories with each other.
There a multitude of issues may arise when children become aware that they have been adopted. Children may feel grief over the loss of a relationship with their birthparents and the loss of the cultural and family connections that would have existed with those parents.
