In the 1997 film representation of “The Odyssey” in which the director had made changes from the story from which some settings, characters, and storylines, and events were either removed, changed, or improved by the director from its original state. These revisions had either helped the director shorten the length of the film from what it would’ve been if it had fully included what the book had, but in turn could have removed or changed important events that could have been needed or shown to explain some events, or scenes like when Odysseus and his crew had landed on Helios’s Island, but in the film that was not included causing a huge textual change in the story.

For example of a good rendering of one of the characters would’ve been Odysseus as he had played his role brilliantly straight from the text in the book, in the way he had acted, with the way he had thought, talked, and felt in his act. Another example would’ve been Telemachus, but had he acted exactly like his character it would’ve also been perfect except for that the characters from the story are written to act the way they act, and talk they way they talk, while the actors, and actresses have to simulate those characters to way that they become them which is difficult, but is given credit for how close they had gotten. A final example would be Penelope as she had done fine, until the end of the film in which instead of taking a while to find out that Odysseus was as Odysseus said he was, but instead just instantly found out that it was him and ran straight for him, which left this scene kinda lacking. For example in the book, the way it detailed the background, or setting of the story didn’t have to be faked or pretended as in the book they were what they were, which in the movie they had to work tirelessly to make life-like props that had actually looked life-like then some store-bought prop that made this quite amazing. Another example would be how they were able to work wonders with the way they had made Ithaca in the movie in such a way it was similar to the book with its descriptions, views and designs of the Island kingdom of Ithaca, and not creating it too different from the book in a way that made it look bad. A final example that would show a way they could have improved this scene in the movie would be the way they interpreted the way the underworld in a way more to a Christian hell, than the Greek underworld with all the fire and screams of terror, then a more cold, and lifeless underworld belonging to the Greeks. This shows the rights and wrongs the director has done with the quality of the scenes as they were done from the book and the way they were interpreted in the
