In conclusion, Christopher likes being by himself. Haddon makes us look through Christopher’s eyes in the book. We learn a lot about ourselves because of this. I realized that everyone is different and has a different point of view on everything. In the book The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time it says “‘Special needs!
In the book “the other was Moore” by Wes Moore. It talks about the story of two boys who had grown up with the same name and distinct features and both had similar childhoods. One had a father and he later on died while he was at the young age of 3. While Wes's father wasn't even in the picture. Although they had similar paths to growing up they both had different outcomes: one started as a troublemaker, and later on, became a soldier, a successful student, and a community leader later on in life.
Although Christopher does not mention autism by name anywhere in the novel, I believe that he recognizes the ways he differs from most people and he is aware of these differences. He says, for instance, that although most people enjoy chatting, he hates it because he finds it pointless. Christopher has trouble relating to others, and he really can't understand people's thoughts and feelings. It's hard for other people to have a normal conversation with him because they have to be careful of what they say.
Christopher The Detective Dealing with a teenager who has autism as a parent is not easy, the audience gets to see how it works out for Christopher and his family. The story presents a boy, Christopher Boone, that stumbles upon a dead dog and that leads to him finding hidden secrets by his father and mother. Mark Haddon is the author of the Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night Time, a novel in which two parents face daily challenges to show affection to their son. Throughout the book, the reader is given a point of view of how someone with this disability thinks, and his mother and father’s experience of taking care of him.
Ray points to the fact that ‘Christopher's environmental awareness - especially as evidenced through his views of language - create the foundation for the novel's critique of disability.’ This sheds light on how despite Haddon’s portrayal of the learning disability comes across, it is a multi-faceted disorder and its effects hold different weightings between those with it. As such, Haddon’s representation of Asperger’s syndrome is through a high-functioning character, allowing him to access such ‘views of language’ which are present throughout the novel. Autism, despite Haddon stating that ‘The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime’ was not a book about autism, is considered by many to be a central aspect of the book. However, the fact that Haddon’s protagonist has a form of autism allows Haddon to take language into its simplest forms.
The Dynamic Character, Christopher Christopher is an autistic boy in the story The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time. In this book, Christopher is a very dynamic character. In this book the author, Mark Haddon, presents Christopher as showing tremendous character development. Throughout the story, The Curious Incident of the dog in the Night Time Christopher develops key traits for him to solve the complex mysteries in his life. Mark Haddon’s novel The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time outlines the struggles individuals with developmental disorders face that can be deemed a societal norm ( i.e. understanding social cues and using figurative language ). Unplanned routines or sudden changes in events can have an impact on the way the individual views the world around them—the novel stars 15-year-old Christopher, who has autism. Mark Haddon hints at this throughout the novel with key techniques like repetition, symbolism and metaphor. Christopher’s way of understanding the world is immediately brought to the reader in the first few chapters of the novel.
He decides to set out on an adventure to find out who murdered Mrs Shears’ dog, writing a mystery novel about all that occurs. Christopher collects information by talking to neighbours, drawing and using mathematics and logic, whilst his father tries his best to not let Christopher get in a mess. The events that follow turn his entire life upside-down, making it into an experience for both Christopher and his father to learn from.
In the said journey, Christopher comes across a series of untruthful and untrusting individuals including both of his somewhat deplorable parents who play a large role in the further degradation of his confidence as well as his vast and evergrowing distrust in people around him. Autism is as one could presumably guess Christopher’s main struggle in the book which influences his judgment and his reactions to society buy and large. Autism is often construed as a mental disorder that is often thought to cause difficulty in forming relationships, communicating with others, and relating to various. In Christopher’s case, he is extremely intelligent and excels in his logical numbers-based subjects, such as Math and Science. Christopher’s autism also takes a great toll on his daily life, in the story, he has immense social hardship when interacting with human beings and rather prefers animals because he seemingly understands them vastly
In Mark Haddon’s book, The Curious Incident of the Dog in The Night-time, the protagonist Christopher, who seems to be on the spectrum, writes about his deranged life. One of the challenges Christopher faces is the fact that he does not like being touched. This makes Christopher feel unsafe and makes him feel that he needs to yell or take a violent action. Throughout the book, Christopher uses different ways to control his anger towards the people who touch him. Thesis: Although Christopher can connect with animals and other simple things in life,it is a struggle for him to connect with people.

Christopher recognizes that he is different from normal people, and his brain works by numbers and he does not fully understand emotions. Although, Christopher never specifies having a disorder. It is wrong for the cover of the book to identify him as autistic, because Christopher does not represent autism as a whole. It is ok for writers to use their imagination and creativity, but it is not acceptable to label the book about a sensitive topic that the author has not done research
Autism is a spectrum disorder that causes the brain to be developed differently. Autism causes a person to disconnect between the way they think and the way the world thinks. This disorder is not a downfall but it proves to help the main character through his quest to find the killer. Despite the stigma concerning autism and Asperger’s, Christopher’s conditions proves advantageous on his journey. In the mystery novel The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime by Mark Haddon, the main conflict is how autism affects ones' life, specifically when a friend has been killed. The winter season was upon us. Snow fell, christmas decorations were up, and our spirits were high. My brother, Milan, and I loved the holiday season. Spending time with our family, opening gifts, playing in the snow; it was all like a dream come true. Every year we made our own wish lists, decorating them in green and red stickers.
