Data Analysis The scientific question answered was, “Does the length of a Pinewood Derby car’s body affect how fast the car will go?” The hypothesis was, “If the length of a Pinewood Derby car is shortened, then the speed will increase.” The independent variable was the length of the car, and the dependent variable was the time it took for the car to reach the bottom. There were many control variables, and some of them are the car used, the wheels used, the stopwatch used, and the ramp the cars were raced on.
In this lab we were trying to figure out if Salt Creek and Barker Lake had the correct chemical balances to sustain catfish for the years coming. In order to find this out, we tested the water using a Hach Water Testing Kit. Inside were dissolved oxygen reagent powder pillows 1, 2 and 3 which we added and mixed into our sample water to prepare it for testing. Then we added droplets of Sodium Thiosulphate Solution into the prepared water too see how much dissolved oxygen parts per million were in the water. Our independent variable in this experiment was the 5 different testing sites that we went to for water samples.
The name of the lab is “Drops on a Penny.” I was expected to find the independant variable, dependant variable, write a hypothesis, and test the experiment. After testing the experiment multiple times, I needed to find the average amount of drops for each trial, graph them, and tell what kind of relationship it is. The last thing I needed to do was rewrite the details of the project and write a conclusion. The point of the experiment was to have the students get used to the idea of a lab, and get familiar with independent and dependent variables.
Abstract St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is a pediatric treatment center and research facility. They focus on cancer and other catastrophic childhood diseases afflicting children around the world. St. Jude is a world leader in developing new and improved treatments for children with cancer. St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is a nonprofit organization located in Memphis, Tennessee. Danny Thomas, the founder, opened St. Jude’s doors on February 4th, 1962.
c. What is the research question or hypothesis? a. My hypothesis is that children who are exposed or given the opportunity to use these devices or are exposed to these devices at a young age will have or obtain more knowledge than a child who are not. d. What sort of research design are you proposing? (e.g. correlational, descriptive observational, experimental, etc.)
After Zimbardo sifted through plenty of applicants, he found a group of students that were mentally able to take part in the experiment. He divided them into two groups:
What is the NCLEX? The NCLEX examination is a national test taken by nursing students to certify they are ready to practice in the field. Nursing students who have passed all their classes, and are ready to graduate, will take the test and hopefully receive their registered nurse certification. There is a great deal of history behind the exam.
When going through this article, one might already have a biased opinion about the topic. Testing has been used for decades to determine information on students’ retention level. This article details a teacher and three students during an important testing cycle. You are able to follow the students’ individual development with the help of the teachers’ narrative. Susan R. Andersen brings her students Dean, Robin, and Terri to life.
One could also consider some negative psychological effects of the experiments such as a perpetual self doubt as a result of having the subject's perspective on the answer to the line size questions conflict with the group's answers and putting the subject in a situation where they either have to choose to be put into an awkward social situation where they are forced to deviate from the groups norm's and deal with the consequences of social deviance, or choose to conform to the group's norms and have to cope with the personal conflict of siding with a conflicting answer that is different from what the subject knows to be true, to be unethical consequences of the
The independent variable tested in the lab was the type of Oreo cookie. The dependent variable in the lab was the mass of the stuffing in grams. Two control variables are the scale we used and the same brand of cookies. My hypothesis was if I measured the mass of the filling in the Double-Stuff and regular Oreos, then it would show that Double-Stuff Oreos do not have “double the stuff” because the mass of the Double-Stuff Oreo’s filling would be less than double the mass of a regular Oreo ’s filling.
After that participants were asked to recall the schemas. Participants who read the other groups schema recalled more information in the second trial than the other
My research question is "What are the effects of using a stable truss versus not using a stable truss in bridge design?". The contest that has been chosen is the Bridge Design Contest. The Bridge Design contest is an online competition where students in 6-12th grade compete using a bridge design computer program. The date of entry to the competition is January 11, 2016 at 1:00 PM EST, that is also the day the bridge design computer program is released. The competition starts January 12, 2016 at 1:00 PM EST and goes to April 22, 2016 at 1:00 PM.
The hypothesis for this project was “If a soccer ball has less regulation air pressure, then the distance the ball travels when kicked will be less.” It was therefore rejected. The soccer ball with less air traveled farther than the soccer ball with more air. The average distance of the soccer ball with less air traveled 29 yards, and the soccer ball wind or that I was tired.with more air traveled at an average distance of 19 yards. could’ve been caused by the It Everything went according to plan except that the hypothesis was rejected.
On Thursday June 22nd 2017, I had the opportunity to walk through Crown Heights Brooklyn with a group of three New York City Teaching Fellows. The purpose of our visit was to study the communinty and gather background information and identify community resources. As a group we visited two schools in the community, Clara Barton High School and Elijah Stroud Middle School, which are all less thean a half a mile of each other. In preperation for our walk we read the article Race, Class and Imagining The Urban by Zeus Leonardo and Margeret Hunter. In the article the authors did a study on the urban in which it it describes it as a constant process of modernization, and how it may be an outlet for some, but for others who live in the urban setting, is viewed as innescapable poverty for others.
OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY 1. To assess and compare students’ performance level of experimental group who are exposed to open-ended approach and control group who are treated with traditional approach. 2. To determine the significant difference between the two groups: 2.1. pretest; 2.2.
