Abstract St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is a pediatric treatment center and research facility. They focus on cancer and other catastrophic childhood diseases afflicting children around the world. St. Jude is a world leader in developing new and improved treatments for children with cancer. St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is a nonprofit organization located in Memphis, Tennessee. Danny Thomas, the founder, opened St. Jude’s doors on February 4th, 1962. They have helped improve the survival rate of childhood cancer from 20% to 80% and are aiming to get to 90% in the next decade. St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital Strengths St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, which is located in Memphis, Tennessee, is one of the world’s most premiere pediatric research centers for cancer patients. Most of the patients are treated on a continuing outpatient basis as part of ongoing research programs. All patients are followed for 10 years or more after active treatment ends. This is part of the St. Jude LIFE & After Completion of Therapy Clinic Presented by Kmart. After Completion of Therapy (ACT) program is the largest long-term follow-up clinic for childhood cancer patients in the United States. St. Jude is also studying more than 2,900 survivors through the St. Jude LIFE research study. The hospital has 78 beds for patients that require hospitalization.
