There were many interesting news stories this past week, specifically in the entertainment industry. For instance, with the Academy Awards being on Sunday, many reporters have covered the awards and have discussed Oscar snubs. Moreover, the finale of The Bachelor took over social media Monday night after Arie Luyendyk Jr. changed his mind after already proposing to one girl. Many outlets such as the Chicago Tribune, ABC, E! Online, USA Today, Forbes and more covered one or both of these stories. Here I will be focusing on the different media coverage on The Post following the Academy Awards and also the coverage of the Bachelor in the Hollywood Reporter, Vanity Fair, and TIME. First, I will analyze how these topics were covered in the Hollywood Reporter. On the Oscars, entertainment writer Hilary Lewis highlights how the evening was a disappointment for movies like The Post, considering no wins. In her article, Lewis discusses how the movie didn’t win any awards all season and includes a video of Seth Meyers joking about how many awards the show would win during the award season. Furthermore, another entertainment reporter Laura Bradley harshly criticizes The Bachelor finale, mentioning declining ratings and exploitative behavior.
