In the short story “Sucker”, by Carson McCullers, creates a bond between Peter and his younger cousin, Richard. The author teaches the reader a lesson about friendship. She feels that the way Peter treated Sucker was wrong and that friendship is a fragile thing. The text is narrated from Peter’s perspective and the way Peter narrates the story makes it clear that he regretted treating his cousin. When he reflects on his past, he says that “if I could have seen ahead maybe I would have acted different” (McCullers 69).
In Singleton’s story “Answers,” the main characters loses the element of trust with each other, causing tension in their marriage. The husband loses the trust he has with his wife because of the revelation of her dishonesty during an honest game. In

Betrayal is defined as the breaking or violating of a presumptive contract, trust, or confidence that produces moral and psychological conflict within a relationship among individuals (Dictionary.com). Betrayal plays a big role in The Crucible and it shows throughout the book. Abigail Williams, one of the main characters in the play, has shown many instances of betrayal and deception. Throughout the play, betrayal fuels her success in the witchcraft trials and is the main reason she did not get executed and was one of the main accusers.
In the book Renegades by Marissa Meyer, many things happen throughout the book that many will find interesting. This story follows two main characters, Adrian Everhart and Nova Artino/Mclain. In this world, there are these people who are prodigies with superpowers that they either inherit or are born with. There is also a Council that is made of the best superheroes or Renegades, all around the city that this book takes place in and the son of the top two Council members is Adrian Everhart with their leadership skills and the ability to make whatever he draws come to life. There are also villains in this world of heroes called the Anarchists and within these villains is the niece of the formerly ruler of Gatlon City during the Age of Anarchy.
In The First Betrayal Josan, a man who works in a lighthouse finds himself in the midst of a violent storm. Consequently the disheartening storm threatens to destroy the light in the tower, causing the ships to crash into the rocks. In the passage- The First Betrayal, Patricia Bray’s use of harsh diction and vivid imagery creates a mood of suspense. For instance, the author’s use of word choice illustrates a tone of fear.

“The Veldt” is a short story by Ray Bradbury. This story can be analyzed using a Marxist and psychoanalytical perspective. For both of these perspectives, the main evidence is found in the kids and their relationship with their parents. For Marxist, “The Veldt” shows how the family relationship reveals the oppression of the lower class and their battle to become the new upper class. The structure of power in this can be connected to the power struggle of today’s society.

Within excerpts from ‘creepin’’ by 21 Savage, Metro Boomin, and The Weekend, and a monologue from Othello by Shakespeare, the authors developed similar situations with the speakers realizing they have been cheated on by using repetitive themes, both speakers mirror each other throughout their thought processes of their situations. While both pieces are similar in the ideas of not wanting the memories they hold to be proven wrong, they differ in their response to being cheated on, with Othello expressing anger and disappointment, while “creepin’”s narrator’s expresses despondence and sadness driving him to turn inwards towards himself. The patterns of trust and subsequent betrayal found in the Invisible Man by Ralph Ellison, serve to teach lessons about what it was like for African Americans in post-slavery America, when the book is set. The Invisible Man trusts easily and naively. Yet, despite working hard, he is betrayed by the institutions and people he looks up to as role models as they exploit his expectations for their own agenda. Overall, there are four strong examples of those taking advantage and hurting the Invisible Man. With each incident, he learns a lesson about how blatantly the black population is disregarded, along with being given an object that represents the underlying racism found in a society.
