Perhaps, the Industrial Revolution was one of the most important eras in American History because it changed the way Americans and other people lived. It affected the people economically, personally, and morally. American farmers were in dying need of an industrial revolution because of how poorly the Americans were living. Before the revolution we had to do everything hand-made i.e. where we needed to pick all the materials to make things ourselves. It was time to make a change. There were man factors that led to the Industrial Revolution, the two most important ones were the Embargo Act of 1807 and the War of 1812. When Thomas Jefferson proposed the Embargo Act of 1807 which restricted all trade with all foreign countries. It was the first line of steamboats invented. Another huge invention which increased our transportation was the railroads. Which also relied on a steam engine to power the trains. In 1869, the first transcontinental rail line was built which linked both coast. This was huge for Americans because it helped the expansion of our country tremendously. One of the most important inventions that has revolutionized transportation was the Model T car that Henry Ford had built. Americans started to look into new forms of communication. Samuel B. Morse later invented the telegraph in 1836. The telegraph worked by a series of dots and dashes which could be transmitted electrically. The first telegraph service opened was 8 years later between Baltimore and Washington D.C. It began to expand as well as the railroad industry did.
