The president is the head of government of the United States of America, the Commander in Chief, and Chief Executive. The power of the president has grown since George Washington in 1789 because of technology, military, and the impact of Franklin D. Roosevelt. The technology throughout the years has greatly improved and expanded. When George Washington was in office in 1789, he had little communication to make changes . The growth of the internet and phones have made it easier for the president to manage the federal government. The new development of software and new tools can help the president and their staff communicate with government agencies across the nation. This gives the president more power because he can make changes more efficiently and effectively. The U.S and the world expanding their variety of communication has given the president more power. Roosevelt is known as one of the greatest presidents in the executive office. He impacted the way the president makes changes and how they communicate with U.S citizens. FDR’s style of presidency was to talk to American people through radio broadcasts called “fireside chats.” This gave the president more power because the people trusted him and his ideas. With that trust, he has less resistance from others to follow out his plans because they know what he is doing.
