The experience of color is so versatile and so valued in our society today. Color can determine the way you think, the way you act, and the way you make your decisions. It can irritate or soothe your eyes, raise your blood pressure or suppress your appetite. It can make you feel happy, or sad, excited or anxious. Color is an irreplaceable and wonderful gift of nature. So what happens if you lived in a world without color? This is the question that color blind people face almost everyday of their lives. It’s definitely hard to imagine a world without color, so Valspar and Enchroma had decided to collaborate to make the world’s first color-correcting eyeglasses for the color blind. Each subject had talked about their own stories of when they had discovered that they were colorblind. Some of the volunteers testimonials had been very emotionally moving. The first subject’s name was Keith who “never knew color blindness had existed growing up”. When he was little, he believed he just was not intelligent enough to see certain colors the way everyone else was able to, which led him to stop his passion for painting and drawing. The actor’s feeling of loneliness and the abandonment of his craft, evokes a sense of sympathy from the audience. Another subject, Andrew, who is a father, wishes he could see how his kids put colors together in their artwork and try to see what they were visualizing. However due to his colorblindness he cannot see anything, all he can see is that “this was gray and that was gray, and that was gray” there was no difference. Understanding that Andrew is in a way missing out on his children’s childhood due to his colorblindness, brings a somber and helpless mood that is casted over the audience. It is with these stories, that Valspar and Enchroma are able to play on the compassionate nature of humans and urge the audience to want to see the end results of this experiment in hopes for the best outcome for these two color blind …show more content…

Some of them cried, some were extremely happy, and some were speechless.They never knew how much of the world they hadn’t seen. Through their emotional experience, we reflect on our own lives and discover how privileged we are to see our world in full color and to appreciate this gift everyday. Keith had described that in the end when he was able to see color, the experience was “so private that it’s almost indescribable”. Andrew is able to see his children’s drawings in its full glory and finally understand “all these things that were intentional in life” that he never caught on to. However, once they had each removed the color- correcting glasses everything had seemed to changed. Their mood and posture quickly fell, and they were visibly much more resigned and sad once they took off the special glasses. They had both agreed that everything was so much duller- life was so much duller- without the glasses and they didn’t know how they could ever go back to the way things were before. These revelations made by the actors make the audience look on with a heavy heart, wishing that all colorblind people were able to get a hold of this amazing product and inspires them to tell others about this amazing invention that changed people’s lives before their
