Munchausen Syndrome by Proxy is described as a mental illness and a form of child abuse. Commonly, the caregiver of a child makes up fake symptoms or causes real symptoms to make it look like the child is sick. This mental disorder affects people all across the world when people try to have their child get treatments they do not need. For example, the parent will make their child ill. The long term effects of someone who is a victim of Munchausen syndrome by proxy is consuming unneeded medical treatments which cause harm, physically destroying the victim's body, and having mental health disorders caused by being forced to be sick. In this quote it shows how a young boy got a feeding tube when he did not need one, and in it containing salt would be the cause of his death. Which is also an example of a long - term effect because this young boy got a treatment that he did not need, it would lead directly to his death. In addition, it shows that by being healthy, and getting a treatment that you did not need can cause gruesome effects on the human body, which could lead to death. To conclude, a victim of Munchausen syndrome by proxy, one of the long term effects is that the person's body got a treatment that it did not need, therefore having the treatment while being healthy will cause health issues that might never go away. A second long term effect of Munchausen Syndrome by Proxy is physically destroying the body of the person who received medical treatments or procedures when they did not need to.
