Gypsy and her online boyfriend, Nicholas Godejohn, had only known each other for less than 3 years. Gypsy’s case is an interesting one. Who is Gypsy Rose Blanchard, what is her involvement in her mother’s death, and how has her life been since her release from prison? Firstly, who is Gypsy Rose Blanchard? Gypsy Rose was born on July 27, 1991 in Golden Meadow, Louisiana to her mother, Claudine Blanchard, and her father, Rod Blanchard. Before Gypsy was even born, her mother and father had divorced. These doctor visits have become a consistent factor in Gypsy’s life for all sorts of reasons. Her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard, was a nurses’ aid so she knew a thing or two, or so people thought. These constant tests were due to Dee Dee’s case of munchausen disease, which is a rare type of mental disorder where a patient fakes an illness to gain attention and sympathy (Munchausen Syndrome (Factitious disorder imposed on self)). Gypsy went to the doctor for treatment until she was 23. However, she thought she was only 19 due to her mother’s words. According to Kayla Caldwell, Gypsy went to the doctor for treatments for leukemia, muscular dystrophy, asthma, vision and hearing impairment, seizures, and an unspecified chromosomal disorder (Caldwell). She also has a wheelchair, feeding tube, and breathing machine. Gypsy got pulled out of school, not even in the 3rd grade, due to all of her medical conditions.
