There are a wide range of policies, legislations, guidelines and procedures in place to protect the welfare and wellbeing of children and young people below I have listed some:
Childrenâ€TMs act 2006- The main purpose of the act is to ensure that United Kingdom is a better and safer place for children of all ages, it is also in place to protect the welfare of children and specifically covers disabled children. The 2006 act also is in place to improve every child matters outcome in pre-school it also defines new rules in place for working parents who need childcare. Family circumstances- The physical and mental wellbeing of a parent may have an impact on a child or young personâ€TMs life; which could lead to them suffering from neglect. Parents who have a mental illness such as anxiety and depression may struggle to keep up with the needs of their children. A parent who suffers with anxiety may find it difficult to leave the house or go into public places, this could lead to them struggling to meet the basic needs of their children such as, providing relevant clothing and food. A parent who suffers from depression may not be stable enough to make decisions about their children and may require additions support such as family support workers. Some children or young people may live within a family that is at the hands of domestic abuse which is not good for the welfare of a child. Other things could be parents that abuse alcohol or drugs this will have a huge impact on a childâ€TMs up bringing they may miss out on essentialâ€TMs and parents may not be fit to make decisions about their
