About their family Family had a high respect in society. Christopher and Jeffrey had a loving relationship with their parents. They have good character and behaviour. They had good academic background. Jeffrey was a yachtsman, popular and gregarious.
Book Report #4 The book I read this quarter was Glory Be by Augusta Scattergood. Its Lexile level is 680. This book is about a 11-year old girl named Gloriana Hemphill, who now comprehends how much racism is a problem in her hometown in Mississippi in 1963.
The Walls family consists of Rex (father), Rose Mary (Mother), Lori, Brian, Jeannette, and Maureen (Children). Jeanette starts of her memoir in new york where she has made a living for herself, a good home in park avenue a nice husband and yet her parents are living out on the streets of the “Big Apple”. Not that she hasn't tried to help them, she has but her father insists they don't need anything and her mother asks for something silly like “perfume atomizer or membership in a health club”. Jeanette recalls her memories of when she was three, her parents are carefree and don't believe in rules or discipline.
Book Review I think the book “Touching Spirit Bear” book is a extremely action packed & dramatic book. In this book two teenage boys (Peter and Cole) have a depressing start to life , on the other hand they starts to explore themselves and find who they truly are. DRAMA & ACTION. Those are the two main words. If you like drama and action i bet you would like this book.
Every once in awhile a horrible situation occurs expecting the worst to happen when in reality something good comes out of it, such as the events in the Walls family in the Glass Castle by author Jeannette Walls. An event that would of turned terrible but went another direction was when Rex and Rose couldn’t buy christmas gifts for the kids (pg.39). During that period the Walls were pretty poor and couldn’t afford to get each other gifts during the holiday’s. The result of this could 've ended in sadness and disappointment, but to spare that Rose and Rex told the kids the truth where Santa wasn’t real. Telling the kids that Santa wasn’t real made them feel apart of a secret other kids didn’t know, which made them feel special.
As Jeannette matures her connection with her parents, particularly her father begins to diminish. Jeannette didn’t grasp that the way her parents raised them or viewed the world wasn’t normal and as she got older she recognized how selfish her parents were. Jeannette was constantly close with her father, and always showed compassion for him, but when they relocated to Welch it appeared as if her father had changed. Jeannette eventually obtained work and began to save up money so she and her siblings could survive, but her father didn’t approve and eventually sabotaged that plan. Eventually, Rex went to Jeannette and requested money from her, he did promise to pay her back.

In the book The Silver Star by Jeannette Walls each of the characters have many events that affect them emotionally and physically. In the second part of my book the oldest sister, Liz gets into a situation with Mr. Maddox, her boss. When Liz and Jean, her younger sister started working for him and his family everything was great, but now not so much. When it came to pay both of the girls Jean requested hers in cash, but LIz on the other hand wasn’t particular and went with what Mr. Maddox wanted to do. She was fine with him putting it into a bank account to earn interest and she didn’t have a problem with that until she wanted to take it out.
The couple met in tenth grade and instantly liked each other. Although they did not date right away, they became close friends. Both of their parents were divorced. They both grew up watching their parent’s interact in an extremely dysfunctional way (Observational learning, Psych 101 principle).
I read the book The Indian School by Gloria Whelan and the genre is Biography. In my book there is 96 pages. According to goodreads.com someone wrote that “the book sends a good message about the importance of maintaining a person’s culture, especially for children. ”I think this would be a good book for 8-12 and it would be the perfect for these ages because it the vocabulary is not to hard and if you love read about story 's from the past this would be a great book for you. The protagonists in this book the is a girl named Lucy and a girl named Raven.
A friendship that is built on the foundation of jealousy, envy and competition is a toxic, corrupted relationship. Some people find motivation behind jealousy. It can be healthy and suitable to a certain extent; however, if one trespasses its borders the outcome will be chaotic. The same idea applies to competitiveness. It is awfully dangerous for people to live their lives constantly consumed by rotten emotions, because they only end up hurting and poisoning their relationships with others, and also harming themselves.
Witnessing my father chasing down my mother because of a pointless argument of my parents not caring about my siblings and I where abouts would be devastating to say the least. In The Glass Castle Jeannette and her siblings chose to appreciate the small things as they got older because they were not given materialistic items or a hot meal when they could afford it. Their mother made poor financial decisions and hardly ever put the kids first. For example, the mom chose to rent a piano over buying Brian a pair of male jeans. He had to suffer wearing girl clothes that did not even fit.
Their relationship is one of a kind considering they are migrant workers.
Nicholas Sparks once said, “I don’t know that love changes. People change. Circumstances change.” In the memoir, The Glass Castle author Jeannette Walls shows how her father Rex Walls changes with everything thrown at him as a father or four. In the beginning of being a parent Rex shares his intelligence with his children.
I thoroughly enjoyed the book The Glass Castle. I found the book deeply moving as well as meaningful and gives insight to a lifestyle that is usually overlooked in society. The main take away from this book I found is a family such as the Walls, who are just getting by are usually overlooked. They were not constantly living on the streets and moved around multiple times, thus alluding attention that would have affected their life.
