The Giver is like a utopia place, By Lois Lowry. Is it worth trading freedom for happiness, security, and comfort? I don’t think freedom is worth giving up for happiness, security, and comfort, because having freedom might make you happy in some ways, because a lot of people don’t have freedom. But still I wouldn't. And you can’t really have happiness without freedom. Freedom is very important because how won’t you have a perfect world without freedom. The purpose of this essay is to argue whether freedom is worth trading up for happiness, security, and comfort. Why it's wrong to deny people's freedom? In the book The Giver, there are many different examples. But I chose the examples that really stood out to me, the examples that I liked are they are not being able to chose their own work, (pg 12) taking food from the office, (which they are not able to) and not being able to chose their own spouses. The book has many good examples for this question. One of my examples from the book is that, the community has no danger near them, and that they might give them comfort that they don’t need worry about. Another one is that the people in the community just go with the flow. I chose those examples out from the book because I think that they really proved a point in what i’m talking about.
