Their whole lives are being controlled by the king of Britain. The colonies are being controlled too much by a king that lives across an ocean.
In the excerpt, “The Story of American Freedom” Eric Foner analyzes how changing the meaning of freedom helps Americans obtain the desire for economic opportunities, political equality, and social acceptance. Primarily, the economic side of defining freedom in America varies drastically by the era that we are living in and how the country is modernizing. The term freedom can change when it comes to political equality. The government says that every citizen is equal but in society every citizen is not equal. Also, Foner demonstrates social freedom as a privilege and that important social issues are prioritized even though many issues should be treated with the same importance and attention.
Isn’t freedom suppose to mean the power to have the right to act, speak, or think as one wants without restraint. But that’s not true. Freedom is precious to us because, not everyone has freedom which everyone
A lot of people take freedom for granted. Some might not even realize that they have freedom! But freedom is not something you get, you have to work for it. You have to put a lot of components and time into gaining freedom. Freedom is a privilege that you have to work for.
Freedom has been the central belief of America since the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1776. Since this day, America has worked hard to keep the idea that America is the “land of the free.” However, throughout the construction of this nation, freedom was defined differently by each person. Freedom to African Americans meant liberty from enslavement and land ownership. Freedom to Europeans meant freedom of religion and government.
Freedom lives and breathes in everything we as Americans do. The freedom we have today reminds me of where freedom does not exist yet. There are many countries where the citizens have heard about our freedom, but cannot experience it for themselves. We can only hope for those people right now, and dream of a world that’s free.
Freedom, is one of the biggest things that America has given to us. It allows us to be able to do things we do today. Sports, school being able to go and do those things is a privilege. Being able to go to college.
The United States of America is now a days considered a country where freedom is a priority, and one of the most influential powers in the world. H.L. Mencken claims, “The average man does not want to be free. He simply wants to be safe” meaning he would prefer safety over freedom to which I would agree on. Controversy between freedom or safety is that freedom can have no consequences to our actions, but safety can protect with consequences. Freedom itself can be a blessing, yet without a sense of security or protection there will be chaos because some people cannot handle so much power into their hands. Being free gives us the potential of doing what we please to do whether it is doing our jobs or committing a crime.
However I think that freedom is very important to all people. Without freedom america wouldn 't be the same. Freedom means to be free at what you do in life. Having it means the world to other people. Freedom helps out others that 's not from here.
"Nobody can give you freedom. Nobody can give you equality or justice or anything. If you're a man, you take it. " The quote, stated by Malcolm X, is an accurate representation of freedom having to be earned every generation.
Nowadays, we take our freedom for granted. Freedom is tremendously important to me. As citizens of the United States, we have many rights, including our right to choose how our nation is ruled. All over the world, people have no say in how they are leaded, and are condemned to a life of being forced to do things against their will.
People have their freedoms restricted or regulated in many places throughout the world. Most of these places are third world countries with dictatorships, rampant corruption, or both, so it’s hard to believe that you can have your freedom limited while living in the United States, a democracy. Although, it is still entirely possible. One place that it can occur is in the household. One evening I sat quietly at the dinner table, eating spaghetti slathered in marinara sauce.
But to me freedom is powerful and thrilling, and it has its limits. Also, freedom is like a layered cake. Each layer is one of trust, and you need trust to have freedom. Freedom to me is precious and important, because without it I wouldn’t be able to live my life long dreams, or even take big steps to success. I always feel proud at how many of my family members and friends are fighting right now for our country.
