Which one did you like the best, the movie or the novel of The Giver? The one I like the most is the novel of The Giver. The novel was more understanding and detailed. The movie though was like it was being rushed through. It felt just like a trailer of a movie. In a way, the movie and novel had some similarities and differences. The first thing I would talk about is the similarities of the movie and novel.
There are similarities between the movie and novel. The names of the characters in the movie and the novel stayed the same. You can never change the names of the characters because you won’t know who they are. Both the movie and novel involved no color and color in it. Everyone in the community still had to apologize to each other. In both the movie and novel, Jonas was still selected as “The Receiver of Memory”. During the movie and the novel, Gabriel still had a release to elsewhere.

In the novel, Jonas was 12 years old. But in the movie, Jonas was an 18 year old boy as an 12. Jonas and his friends, Fiona and Asher, took care of newborn children in the movie. In the novel, they took care of the elderly people. During the ceremony in the movie, they should the release of the elders and some of the newborn children; which in the novel they don’t show the kids and the adults.The numbers of the kids were different. In novel Jonas was number 19 but in the movie he was number 52. Fiona was a nurturer for the old in the novel. In the movie, she was a nurturer for the newborn children. During the novel, Jonas had to lay on a metal table/bed to receive the memories from The Giver. It was different in the movie. He received the memories by sitting on a chair and Jonas and The Giver had a black spot on their arm to also receive the memory. Asher was assigned as a “Director of Recreation” in the novel, but was a “Drone Pilot” in the movie. In conclusion, there were many differences that the movie and the novel
