The governmental structure was revolutionary in 1787 because it was the beginning of the constitution and the stepping stone to the future United States government. In 1787 the founding father held a constitutional convention to address the problems the government had under the Articles of Confederation. The articles of confederation was the first constitution of the United State, it was established on November 15, 1777 (“The Articles of Confederation”). The Articles of Confederation was created after the United States declared independence from England. The second rule was that once the document was done, they were to not revisit it and debate about it (The Constitutional Convention). During the five months, the delegates attempted to resolve some of their problems the country had. Some of these problems are paying debts from the Revolutionary War and other domestic issues (Milestone 1787-1789). To resolves these problems the delegates of the convention created a model of government that relied on a series of checks and balances by dividing federal authority between the legislative, the judicial, and the Executive branch of government (Milestone 1787-1789). This model was not the first idea that they had when trying to create a new government, their original idea was to make a strong legislative divided into a House of Representative and a Senate and a weak presidency (Milestone 1787-1789). The form of aristocracy in our government can be related to the senate. An aristocracy is a government rules by the privileged and primarily a hereditary ruling class. A senate is a governing body that is one half of the legislative branch. Each state elects two senators who have six year terms, one third of the senate membership expires every two years (Senate). Aristocracy and the senate are similar because in both governments, only the best and the brightest are chosen to serve. Also in both the senate and the aristocracy, only a few are in power in comparison to the house of representatives. In the past the ones who were part of the senate where the rich and the educated just like in Aristocracy, only the rich and educated were allowed to be part of the government. The executive branch is the governing body that makes decisions and enforces the law.
