The affair between these two show a major role in the book. Nick meets tom’s mistress, Myrtle Wilson, when he gets off the train on the way to New York. She was a middle-class woman whose husband ran a gas station. All three of them were hanging out at her home. George Wilson was a friend to Tom. He was friendly and welcomed tom into his home. He was a sweet man to him. The valley of ashes, a run-down, ghostly, formerly developed piece of land that has been given up on, which marks the intersection of a city with the suburbs. Drunkenness turns to fights and Tom breaks Myrtle's nose because they both wanted his wife. CHAPTER THREE: The most crucial aspect of the chapter is the relationship between Nick and Barker. The jazz age refers to the generation that the author shows. CHAPTER FOUR: The meeting between Barker and Nick gives Nick the story that Gatsby had told her earlier. This starts the main idea of the story. The affection between the two is also very important. As they are driving for lunch, Gatsby tells Nick that he wants to cancel any myths that Nick may have heard about him. Gatsby says that he came from a wealthy family from the Midwest. He said that his parents died and left him a ton of money. After that he went to war and lived in all of the cities and later went to Oxford College. Gatsby also tells Nick that he has a "big request" to make of him but that Jordan Baker will talk to him of it later. Nick is confused, but Gatsby will not talk anymore about the topic. According to Jordan on the day before Daisy was supposed to get married, Daisy received a suspicious letter from someone. After reading it she told Jordan that she wasn't going to get married, but went through with it anyway. Gatsby would like for Nick to help him see Daisy again.
