In the movie the characters were portrayed well rather than in the book. The characters made the connection present that each of them had with each other. Gatsby made his love for Daisy present and Nick’s neutral attitude between both sides was the same in the movie compared to the book. In the movie the scene where it shows George Wilson getting the gun with anger towards Gatsby was frustrating to watch because George had all that rage over someone who didn’t even commit the crime to begin with. The scene at Myrtle’s apartment when they were having their “gaudy” party was better in the movie because in the movie the loud red color of her apartment made it look trashy and less elegant than Tom and Daisy’s dinner party with Nick. In the book it talks about how Nick and Jordan had a romance but in the movie Jordan’s character appears a minimum amount of times and has a dull character. Although her role was cut short it did add mystery to the movie since throughout the movie it was only known that she was just a pro-golfer. In the book Gatsby’s parties were described to have classical music but in the movie it was modern day rap music like Beyoncé and Lana Del Rey. This made the movie more exciting and even persuasive into attending one of Gatsby’s famous parties. The characters in the movie were accurate although Daisy was thought of to act differently in the movie. Her personality from the start of the movie showed that she would much rather be and stay with Tom then go off and run with Gatsby. Although they both have money Daisy’s character showed the way she looked at each of them and with Tom there was more emotion towards him and eye contact. Uncertainty from Daisy in the movie on how she felt towards Gatsby is shown. In the book there was a lot of detail that was left out in the movie and made me expect there to be more from
