The New Popularity Contest For Americans, dreams have become a popularity contest for who can achieve the best dreams. The results of the past have created the so-called American Dream to be about dreaming so big that it is impossible to reach them. Along with dreaming too big, many things socially and economically affect how our dreams occur. As shown in The Great Gatsby and the CNN Business article, "What broke the American Dream for Millennials" the American Dream is seen as an illusion since intangible dreams are not worth reaching for. However, he found himself always attempting to play catch up, wishing for something from the past, or trying to slow down time to reach his dreams.
