Francis Scott Fitzgerald is an American author who is most famously known for his novel The Great Gatsby. Fitzgerald was an only child growing up and had many things that child even today wishes they could have, Fitzgerald wrote his stories on experiences he had when he was younger and later in life. F. Scott Fitzgerald wrote stories about some of his life experiences due to a busy lifestyle which caused him to begin drinking and his wife being mentally unstable. Fitzgerald was born on September 24 1896 in St. Paul Minnesota to Edward and Mollie Fitzgerald. Fitzgerald started to live the dream after his fortune from his new novel. Fitzgerald started to drink heavily and throw huge parties which caused him later in life to become an alcoholic and make Zelda to have mental issues. Zelda was admitted into a mental institution in France(F. Scott Fitzgerald). This didn’t slow down Fitzgerald and his busy life. Fitzgerald was still drinking and that didn’t change for a couple years. After his life started to go downhill for awhile Fitzgerald was desperate for money so he wrote his short story “The Crack Up” which was based on his own life experiences and life. Fitzgerald at first didn’t want to publish the story because it personal to him and didn’t want his fans to know the truth about what happened to him but he later he changed his mind and he wanted his fans to know the truth so he published it and ended up being a success (A Brief life of Fitzgerald). A few months after “The Crack Up” Fitzgerald started to drink again and went back into a slow decline and had a severe writers block and didn’t publish anything again for a few years. Fitzgerald still continued to write but there was nothing that was a success. Fitzgerald went to Hollywood to become a screenwriter and found no success there and wrote many movies that were later remade such as The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. Fitzgerald at the age of 40 started to have health issues due to the drinking and even though he wasn’t drinking everyday he still never gave it up. Fitzgerald started to have major headaches and heart problems and it started to get so bad that he couldn’t even get out of bed. Fitzgerald went to go see a doctor and got medicated. At the age of 43 Fitzgerald moved back to his hometown in Minnesota and lived there for a few years before his death. Fitzgerald passed away from a heart attack in his home at the age of 45(F. Scott Fitzgerald). Zelda was still in France and didn’t get the news that her husband passed away until a couple months have passed. She was very upset later when she found out that she wasn’t told earlier about her husband's passing.
