In “the great gatsby” the idea of the American dream is shown to be achievable when the dream is realistic. An example of this is when Gastby believes that he will be with Daisy when he was just a very poor person. This is because gastby did not have the money at first and then when he did have the money he did not have the history of the money he was known to have new money not generational wealth like daisy had. Since Daisy comes from generational wealth, she would want to marry someone who came from generational wealth as well. which JAY did not have. On the other hand Tom Buchanan did have the wealth and the history of wealth that makes him the most qualified candidate to mate with Daisy. He was also unrealistic by expecting Daisy to come to him and get together and suddenly pop up in one of his parties with is impossible the only way that she actually got to remember is by getting someone else to connect with them and yet he still was very bad (jumpy bad) during the meeting. Another reason would be because he did not get his wealth the right easy (legal way) and he did not think that it was a problem or he would ever get caught. I would have to agree with the perspective that i have chosen because not all dreams
