A mischievous kid named Tom Sawyer lives with his aunt and brother. Tom experiences many adventures throughout the book. From being the witness of a murder to getting trapped in a cave. Throughout these adventures Tom shows many different character traits. As he is growing up, Tom Sawyer dreams and plays at being a hero. Along the way, life experiences give him the chance to become one. Tom starts as an impulsive kid, then starts to become aware of others and finally becomes the hero in the book. Tom took the blame for her and also took the punishment. He saved her from the whipping that she deserved to have. This shows that Tom is compassionate and that he cares about others Thirdly, Tom shows that he is a true hero. “ ‘ Oh Judge, Injun Joe is in the cave.’ ” (Twain 183). Injun Joe is a murderer in the book that escapes his penalty for the murder. Injun Joe was inside a cave and then a judge told Tom that they bolted the same cave to make sure no one gets lost inside. Tom cared so much (even for such a terrible person) that he told the judge that Injun Joe was in the cave. This shows that Tom is a true hero and that he deeply cares for others. In the beginning of the book, Tom dreamt of being a hero and was a very bad kid. Along the way, Tom gets the chance to become one through experiences. At first Tom is a selfish and impulsive kid. Later he becomes nicer and starts to care about others. At the end of the story, Tom becomes a true hero.
