The High and Low of The Wave When you think an experiment goes well and it goes too far. The Wave was made by Todd Strasser the book is based on a event that happens in 1969. The book was based on the Nazi’s the Halocaust set in Gordan High School in Palo Alto, California. The Wave has positive and negative effects about it. The positives are teamwork and equality. The negatives are violences against non-members and peer pressure to people who don’t want to join. The first positive effect of The Wave is teamwork. The reasoning is Mr. Ross wants to make this experiment work he wants to unify the class. On page 50 Mr Ross said “Well you know this country was built by people who were part of a group like the Pioneers and the Founding Fathers,” (Strasser). The reason why he is saying this is our country was made with a unified group. For example, Mr. Ross says, “Remember in the wave everyone are equals no one is more important than the other or more popular than anyone else,” (60). What Mr. Ross wants for this group is no competition in The Wave so no one will get hurt. One of the negative effects of the is attacks from Wave members against non-members. Members in the wave assault non-members for no reason.
