The segregation of schools based on a students skin color was in place until 1954. On May 17th of that year, during the Supreme Court case of Brown v. Board of Education, it was declared that separate public schools for black and white students was unconstitutional. However, before this, the segregation of schools was a common practice throughout the country. In the 1950s there were many differences in the way that black public schools and white public schools were treated with very few similarities. The differences between the black and white schools encouraged racism which made the amount of discrimination against blacks even greater.
Segregation is a bad thing and it can lead to many severe consequences like, having it as a daily basis and getting used to it which can cause change if it lasts for a long time. Segregation was seen in a daily bases and they had some rights taken away back in those times. For example, when they were trying to go to work or travel, they had to sit in the back of the bus and they weren’t allowed to sit in the front. This proves that they were judged based on small thing and they had to obey the law.
Slavery was different for America then it was for the rest of the world. For the rest of the world, it wasn’t a race thing they just enslaved the people that they had conquered. They did not care what the color of their skin was it was just about the need for labor. In order to discuss this difficult issue, I will try to look at some different points of view about this subject. In my opinion, I cannot believe in any forms of segregation, especially in the case of poor people. It started in the 1960s, Birmingham became one of the most racist cities in America, where segregation was used in law of justice and cultural ethics. Most of the African American faced legal and financial inequality, and violent riots when they attempted to take their problems to court. Birmingham protests began with a boycott against Shuttlesworth and to pressure their business leaders to have an open employment to all races of people. This also meant that they should end segregation on public facilities, restaurants, schools, and stores so that all races become equal. When local business owners and government leaders ignored the boycott, and this is when the SCLC agreed to end segregation.

While segregation may still exist in the test score at school, it's it right to look at the school system and blame it for the gap in the demographic success in school? No, even though there is a massive influx of colored and non-white students into the school, it is not entirely the schools fault. If there is someone to blame for a student's low testing grades, look to the parents in their involvement in the students studying habits, and the teachers union. Students need parents who are just as involved in the school system, and are just as willing to get the student that push. Students need parents who are active enough to nag the student reminding them to complete homework, study for tests, and remember due dates.
As I have researched overtime I have learned that segregated neighborhoods have started in the early 1920s and 30s. It is hard to integrate a society in some cities when the people who live in them are set in their ways. I learned that there is a term called “white flight” which means that as the minority began to move in into neighborhoods white family began to leave. It is said that for every one black family that moved into a neighborhood 3 white families left. I found this very disturbing and it made me question there is no way it could be that bad.
