I believe that utopias are bad. A reason why is that utopias are only good for one person.
Also, utopias aren’t necessarily a good way for humans to live. Another reason is the concept can be good, but the leaders are often bad. I will support my reasons with evidence.
My first reason is utopias are only good for one person. In “The House of the Scorpion”, there is a utopia, but it isn’t always perfect. El Patrón is the leader of this utopia and he controls a strip of land. If there are any illegals he turns them into eejits and makes them help work producing opium. El Patrón makes a lot of money and he uses clones for spare parts so he can live longer. El

In “The
House of the scorpion”, El Patrón is 149 years old and has very bad health problems because instead of just dying, he get transplants that don’t always work. I don’t think this is a very good way to live because he doesn’t have real body parts he has so many transplants and he is barely living with the transplants. It also isn’t good for the people because some are eejits, some are clones, and some are in El Patrón’s shadow. This isn’t good because they are basically being used to make his life great.
No one in Opium gets a perfect life.
My last reason is the concept can be good, but the leaders are often bad. In “The House of the Scorpion”, El Patrón wanted everything to be like his old home. However, El Patrón was evil; he killed clones for spare body parts. El Patrón never wanted to let go of people because he had lost all his sisters and brothers, so at his funeral he poisoned everyone so he would never have to let go of them.
