After both Katniss and Peeta win the Hunger Games, they return home and create a rebel party against the Capitol. Katniss and Peeta are drafted again into the 75th Hunger Games, and Katniss destroys the Hunger Games. In doing this, Peeta is captured by the Capitol and kept as a prisoner of war. In order to save Peeta and the Districts, Katniss unites the people against the Capitol. They form an army that passes through the security of the Capitol and saved Peeta.
The infamous Hunger Games story created by Suzanne Collins starts off by setting the scene in the post-war nation of Panem, where it consists of the gleaming Capitol, surrounded by the twelve impoverished districts. As punishment for putting the nation through peril, the Capitol orders one boy and one girl aged from 12-18 from each district to be sent into the Hunger Games to fight until only one survivor remains. This story follows a young Katniss Everdeen as she volunteers for tribute to fight in the Games in order to save her sister. After meeting her fellow tribute, Peeta Mellark, in which she has a small, meaningful history with, they travel to the Capitol and train with Haymitch. In the arena, she forms many alliances with other tributes until she is eventually forced to fight Peeta.

The Hunger Games vs. The US The Hunger Games is an adventurous yet somewhat violent trilogy that shows another side of what American government could turn into. The US government is slightly different from Panem’s government, but has similar qualities. Both take place in the United States and have a President, but Panem’s President is president until they die. Where as the US President is president for four years and then there is an election.
This is the raw, intense story of The Hunger Games and my conclusion on it. This story is written by Susanne Collins, this story is about 12 districts who are all ruled by the Capitol, the capitol has many different ways of punishing these districts. One of the many ways the capitol punishes these districts is by having them select two tributes from each district male and female to fight to the death until there is one winner in an event named The Hunger Games. My thesis statement is that people are being desensitized to violence some examples include: How the capitol’s remorse level is extremely low for the pain and suffering they have inflicted on the people within these 12 districts another example is how the capitol is always in full control
The cruelty of society, injustice of communities and the desire of perfection makes Dystopian stories and novels written in the 21st century like: Equilibrium (2072, Libria), Divergent (futuristic Chicago) and The Hunger Games (2087, Panem) unpleasant and repressive. “Dystopia” comes from the Greek roots “dys-” and “-topia”. “Dys-” means bad and “-topia” means place to live in. Therefore, a dystopian world is an unfavorable society in which to live in. It is essential that in dystopian stories and novels a back-story, a hero, a conflict and a climax are present.
Introduction: In the novel “The Hunger Games” by Suzanne Collins an important idea the writer developed was the idea of Governmental Control and Oppression. This idea was important as it helped me understand an important message for teenager, the idea that laws could control some populations and abused of its power could cause those living suffering. Paragraph 1: Governmental Control in the “Hunger Games” was something that was really highlighted as people in the capitol had control over those living in the district. The district had strict laws inflicted upon them, making life difficult.
The Hunger Games: A Modern Day Odyssey? The Hunger Games is about a civilization that randomly selects two members from the different districts. Those two members are then forced to fight in an “arena” in which there is only one victor. In a way the Hunger Games is very similar to the Odyssey. The Odyssey begins years after the Trojan War has ended and Odysseus has not returned home.
The famous Roman orator and senator Publius Tacitus once wrote that “the more the laws, the more corrupt the government.” A corrupt system always tries to put restrictions and create laws in order to ensure that their power as an authority is not in danger of being disregarded. In Suzanne Collins’ renowned novel The Hunger Games, the Capitol is a corrupt system in Panem because it abuses its powers to control the citizens. It does so by forcing restrictions on the freedom of the people, favoring the rich and imposing harsh punishments.
In the Hunger Games series, a dystopian future is set up. The government of Panem, The Capitol, holds the wealth of Panem giving it the power to control all districts. In order to enforce this theory, they created the Hunger Games. They suppressed the rights of the citizen’s of Panem and selected their children in order to fight each other do death for survival. These games were created to scare the people and show them who was in charge.
Although their relationship starts out as a lie, their feelings turn real as they bond over their hatred of the situation they are in. The Hunger Games trilogy revolves around universal dystopian themes such as :oppression, rebellion, class tension as well as appearance vs. reality ," Collins creates the world that on one hand seems quite improbable and extreme, but on the other, vividly reflects some specific issues in a real world, like social inequalities, ignorance and passivity of the people" (Macanić 7). Oppression is perhaps the most common and prevalent dystopian theme as it serves as a warning against a highly probable dark future through shedding light on the dark side of contemporary trends such as advanced technology and reality TV-shows .The Capitol 's oppression operates on two levels; districts and individuals. The districts in general and districts 11 and 12 in particular have suffered great injustices at the ruthless hands of the Capitol ; however, there is no greater injustice than The Hunger Games themselves not only are the people of Panem forced to surrender their children as tributes for the Capitol 's citizens viewing pleasure for a crime they had no hand in committing ,but they are also forced to watch helplessly as their children are killed in the most brutal of manners .In Catching Fire (2009) , President Snow decrees that " the male and female tributes will be reaped from their existing pool of victors" in order to get rid of Katniss once and for all ,and to further assert the Capitol 's dominance and quell any thoughts of rebellion(172).
In the hunger games, three characters Katniss, Peeta, and Haymitch are in search of their identities and undergo many events that shape who they are. Since page 1, the reader learns that Katniss’s life is difficult. For she is brutally protective of Prim. She volunteers to take her place in the Hunger Games as previously said.
Suzanne Collins’ The Hunger Games and George Orwell’s 1984 are both dystopian novels, or a book set in an imagined world that is far worse than our own, as opposed to a utopia, which is an ideal place or state. As the focus in the current unit, the Capitol seems like a harsh government, oppressing its people with rules and obviously the cruelty of the Hunger Games. However, another famous book, 1984 depicts a much stricter government that makes the Capitol look like Disneyworld. The story starts when each district must offer a male and female between the ages of 12-18 at a public reaping as a penance for their uprising. The tributes which are male and female shall be delivered to the Capitol and then transferred to a public arena where they will fight with other district until a lone victor remains. This tradition called the hunger games. The story centers was coming from poor district 12 where Katniss and Peeta as their tributes.
