“The Hunger Games” is a book series created by Suzanne Collins, which was later turned into a movie series. The first Hunger Games book is in the perspective of a girl named Katniss Everdeen and her survival through District 12 and throughout the games. Well this movie, more or like all movies, can be very different from their book counterpart, but they can also be similar too. Books and movies are, most of the time, very different from each other, but they can definitely be similar. For example in, “The Hunger Games” book and movie Prim gets her name drawn at the 74th Annual Hunger Games reaping, but then Katniss, being a loving and caring older sister, volunteers as tribute for Prim. One example of a difference is when Katniss is trading in the hob she starts trading with an old woman name Greasy Sae. When trading with her the old woman gifts Katniss a pin with a mockingjay bird on it. In the book Katniss gets this exact pin but she gets it from trading with the major’s daughter. This young lady's name is Madge Undersee. Now another difference is taking place at the Capitol. In the book Katniss is getting prepared for her interview for sponsors and Haymitch “tries” to help her, by making her try new emotional stand points but this didn’t work causing them to begin hating each other more. Now in the movie this doesn’t happen at all, and in fact Haymitch is a nicer person to Katniss in the movie way more than in the book. The last difference happens earlier in the book when Katniss is still back home hunting. While hunting, in the movie, Katniss and Gale hear a loud noise and look up to see a large government owned hovercraft flying over the forest, most likely looking for people trying to escape or rebel. Now this occurrence never happens in the book. The only thing relatively close to this is how Katniss has a flashback when she sees an Avox girl that got captured that she saw happen while
