Humanities Essay The Iceman was a hunter that lived in the Otzal alps. Many historians have contested for a theory of what the Iceman did. The following essay will outline what he did, where did he come from, why he was in the mountains, his status in society, when he died and how he died. The Iceman was a hunter and he was hunting food. Scientists know that in his area there was ibex plus. Evidence suggests that Otzi was carrying hunting weapons including a copper axe and a flint dagger blade plus he was found in a valley so this means it would be a great home or stay for animals. Therefore, Otzi was person who roomed the mountains for animals because he was carrying special hunting tools and he was found in a valley which would be a nice home or stay for animals. Otzi came from the Otzal Alps. The Otzal Alps are between the Italian and Austrian border. Two mountaineers found his body in a cravat that was in the Val Vanosta valley. Otzi was on a hunting expedition because his body was found with hunting utensils including a copper axe and a flint dagger tool. The Iceman was in the mountain in the Val Vanosta valley because it would probably be a good place for animals to stay or live. Thus, Otzi was in the mountains because he was on a hunting expedition. Otzi’s status in society was probably high because he was a hunter. Being the hunter is a big job because you get the food for the village to eat, he could also be chief hunter which would be a top job. The hunter is a big job back then because you can’t just go to the store and buy something. Scientists know that the Iceman had useful tools to hunt and kill the animals so it probably not as hard to hunt.
