In the short years leading to World War one, the country was deeply in debt which in turn was devastating to the Canadian economy. There was a wide spread drought causing great hardship onto Canadian wheat production and farmers, with such low production the expanding railway system of the time could no longer find it feasible to run much of Canada’s large railway network, causing the job loss of 50,000 workers in 1914 alone. When Canada was forced to contribute to the war in the coming months of 1914 the Canadian government had crushing public debt, resulting not only in mass munitions and equipment shortages for the soldiers being sent overseas but, contract cancellations, severe cutbacks, and mass layoffs. According to Document B spending on military hardware and in the industrial sectors that produced weapons led to substantially higher prices, a sharp upturn in the stock markets, and greatly reduced unemployment (Document G). Public anxiety and fear in Western Europe and in the U.S. were fed by the prospect of yet another World War. Whether intended or not, this led to another measure supported by Democrats and Republicans that addressed one of the crises of a depression.
World War 2 impacted the united states economy greatly by giving many people jobs in factories producing items for the war effort. Men from 18-36 were given jobs as soldiers fighting in europe or the pacific. The women and minorities had to work in the factories making the items for the soldiers to use. World War 2 brought america out of the depression and gave the average citizen more income because the women of a family were now working as well as the men . During World War 1, the demand of food was high. The US provided for not only their own soldiers, but also those of other nations, and even the civilians in the rampaged neighborhoods. The farmers had confidence and used the income from the government to buy more land and machinery on credit. Banks supported the farmers while the industry boomed. When the war came to an end, the demand dropped but the supply rose.
When World War II first began in 1939, the United States was still suffering from crippling economic debt and lack of jobs for its citizens, though the average GDP had been growing by 9% each year. When Britain and France declared war, President Roosevelt decided to provide aid towards the allies and shift the manufacturing of weapons into high gear for both British and American Armies. With this shift came a steady decrease in unemployment that helped balance the U.S. economy. Our economy and confidence continued to steadily recover until the attack on Pearl Harbor, where in response the United States unanimously joined the war effort.
World War I was a big moment for America, a time when an nation involved itself in world affairs and began the rise to the economic and military power that America is today. The people of America were affected by world war one in many ways. They were first limited to what they could buy including sugar so that they can provide rations for countries. Full freedom for colored people was a problem in other words there were second class citizens. Finally we went into an everlasting chain of fighting were all these countries were fighting and sticking up for each other and it was just a huge big fight that america didn't need to get involved in.
After the World War I, the United States experienced a deepest and longest-lasting economic downturn the history. Poverty and financial crises are problems that the country was facing after the war due to the stock market crash on October 1929, wiped out millions of investors and big corporations. Many people were unemployment and banks were failing create a big mess in the country. To resolve the problem, government stepped up and introduced a New Deal to stabilize the economy and provide jobs. President Roosevelt’s New Deal permanently changed the federal government, created more programs to help United States back where we were before the Great Depression.
We made huge gains in military technology for poison gas, machine guns, and submarines. We also had a huge boost to the American economy. Production and work opportunities to help the war effort got people working. We also continued to make money with helping to rebuild Europe after the war.
When the war interrupted American trade, Americans had no choice but to start making the goods that they were previously importing here in the United States. So, we ended up making more goods here then we were importing. Therefore, the United States making more goods led us to believe in the stability of our country. Another effect was that the United States finally proved that we could defend ourselves against the world’s strongest military
Businesses lowered their worker's wages so they could maximize the business potential to make weapons for the soldiers. (Doc 8) This angered the workers but the businesses owners told them that they would receive a postwar wage increase. This motivated workers to work hard for their country. After the war, the workers expected to get their promised wage increase but to their surprise, they did not get it.
The growth and conflict in America from 1865-1914 was primarily positive and is shown through the Homestead Act, the Pacific Railway Act, pie graphs and the 15th amendment. The Homestead Act of 1862 is the first document to prove that the growth in America was primarily positive. This United States government offered cheap land in the west for all adults over 21 of age. As a result, immigrants, women, freedmen, and poor families moved to the regions from Texas to Montana.
In World War 1 a lot changed for the United States. One things that changed was their foreign policy. We know it changed because they went from a period of isolationism to being involved in world affairs. We are going to look at how the war changed American society, why they entered the war, and the foreign policy change. During World War 1 a lot changed about American society.
World War 1 The timing of the U.S. entering World War 1 was important because the fire power they had, advantage of the troops, and was a turning point for the war. The United States had more fire power, they also had an advantage of troops, and when the United States entered, it was a turning point for what advantages they had. The United States had more firepower than everyone else in the war because they joined the war later than they other countries.
If you got lucky and did not get fired the wages fell and the buying power increased. The americans that were forced to buy on credit fell into debt,and the numbers of repossessions and foreclosures increased steadily. The gold standard fixed currency exchanged around the world, and helped spread economic distress from the U.S. through the world.7When the country elected Franklin D. Roosevelt he promised he would create federal government programs to end the Great Depression.8 The federal government programs allowed people to get more jobs and help the economy increase. Roosevelt was a big influence during this time period and impacted many people, giving jobs to citizens and boosting the economy. After Franklin Roosevelt created the federal government programs it allowed the economy and society to grow and strength from the unlucky situation.

If something has a heart beat it has a right to life and protection. A woman has the "right" to choose if her child lives or dies, but what about the baby? Doesn’t the baby get a say?
