INTRODUCTION “Attitude is a little thing that makes a big difference”. This statement by Winston Churchill encapsulates the very essence of a human being. Situations and problems arise in everyone’s life. But, it is the attitude with which one faces these situations that separates them from the lot. How we control a scenario lies in our hands. Whether we are approaching it with optimism or pessimism is what makes individuals different. Attitude introduces a person to the outer world. What the world thinks about us is related to the attitudes which we displayed in the past and that past cannot be changed. But we surely can better our future by exhibiting positive attitude and tackling every problem with a smile. Leonardo da Vinci once said “I love those who can smile in trouble”. If everyone were to follow this attitude then even the impossible becomes possible. CONCEPTS AND DEFINITIONS An attitude is a feeling or expression of favour or disfavour toward a person, place, thing, or event. Gordon Allport has described attitudes as "the most distinctive and indispensable concept in contemporary social psychology." Attitude are derived from an individual’s present and past experiences. Attitude can also be defined as judgements or perceptions regarding an object or individual. It is basically a reaction or an orientation towards something. This orientation can be either positive or negative. At the same time some of them can exhibit both positive and negative attitudes towards
