“The prevalence of childhood obesity in the US is at an all-time high with nearly one-third of all children and adolescents now considered overweight or obese” (Ashlesha and Nicosia 1). Children around the world are suffering from child obesity because schools are selling junk food. Students will pick junk food and sweets over healthy food if they have the option to. Junk food should be banned from school because it’s causing obesity. If students have the access to junk food all day then they’ll eat it over a healthy meal. If a student is dealing with obesity and goes to a school with no junk food it can make it easier for them to lose weight. Eating too many fats and sweets it’s bad for your health and for your learning.
Schools that sell junk food can cause children to have obesity at a young age. In the article Tanner, Lindsey. "School Junk Food Bans May Really Help Curb Obesity."It states that “Laws strictly curbing school sales of junk food and sweetened drinks may play a role in slowing childhood obesity” (Tanner 1). If schools stop selling junk food early it can really make a huge difference, and also actually stop childhood obesity. Schools that allow junk food to be sold are more likely to cause children to have obesity.
