Constellations
Since the start of our existence celestial objects in the night sky have played a large role in human life. Throughout human history, stories and names have been attributed to the celestial objects in the sky creating what we know today as constellations. “The only instrument that most beginners need are their eyes. Our eyes can detect subtle variations in brightness, determine the colors and relative temperatures of stars, and track the motions of the Moon and planets” (Equipment Tips). The naked eye is a powerful tool for a stargazer however suffers from many limitations. While using only the naked eye is a viable option for a stargazer, it is not the most optimal way to view the night sky.
