In Africa 's large population of over a billion people, many ideas are brought together across the land. Stemming from this is a diverse culture that spans across the continent, allowing for a wide range of traditions, holidays, and even day-to-day customs. While these customs are often known for being indigenous to the African people, the land itself plays an important role in determining how people act and the ways that they go about their day. They go about this through hosting tours that showcase the wildlife, creating attractions such as zoos, or even organizing areas where they permit hunting. In particular, elephant hunting is one of the most prosperous methods of attracting tourists. The ivory in elephants ' tusks is a very expensive material and is often traded or exported to other countries around the world. It is often sought after, and many travel to Africa for the sole purpose of acquiring this material. Hunting itself can also attract people because of the exhilarating experience that it provides. This can boost and allow for an influx of money in the African economy, although it does prove to be taxing on the environment as it is one of the main causes for African Elephants to go extinct and it is depleting some of the resources that the African people would otherwise have without this business. Aside from the wildlife, one of the numerous geographic features present in Africa is its desert, the Sahara. The Sahara is one of the most well-known landmarks, and it is home to many animals not present in any other part of the world. This, as well as the wildlife in other parts of Africa, can provide more incentive to tourists to visit these lands, allowing the African economy to expand even more. However, this impacts the culture of the surrounding lands to these areas filled with a diverse range of wildlife and causes them to shift their culture from indigenous to anything that they believe will attract more people in an effort to increase their profits.
