It’s what you do for others,” said Danny Thomas, founder of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (Danny). That concept inspires people daily to do better for others. Some people are so passionate about helping others that they make a career out of it. Family social work is one of the most well-known jobs for helping people. Being a family social worker provides not only self-satisfaction through helping others, but also helps many families overcome their problems.
Before applying to become a family social worker, there are several requirements to fulfill. For the applicant to decide which educational path to take, they must first consider the type of career they want. Although a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Social Work must be obtained, an applicant cannot practice social work until they have obtained the social work license. A candidate with a masters degree can apply immediately to take the masters level examination through the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB). The Licensed Social Work (LSW) application includes an educational verification form someone must fill an educational verification form out at the degree-granting institution.
