INTRODUCTION
Mathematics can be considered as a core skill for life since it takes place almost every area in people’s lives. It is divided into many subject areas and geometry is one of them (Yılmaz, 2015). Geometry is the study of this branch of mathematics which provides people to explore and explain their physical environment through observing and measuring. Van de Walle (2001) mentioned that why geometry is important for all people such that geometry helps us understand the world since it can be placed everywhere such as solar system structure, in geological formations and also even in animals. Moreover, he stated that it is inevitable parts of synthetic world where humans construct have elements of geometric forms such as architecture, machines, cars, art and …show more content…

In addition to Van de Walle, Mammana and Vilani said that “ Geometry plays a relevant instrumental role with respect to other sciences such as architecture, geography and astronomy” (1998, p.1). Habibi (2012) mentioned that because of people’s everyday lives surrounded by different geometric shapes and geometric situations, it is essential for children to have some skills to live in this geometric world such as gaining geometric intuition, geometric knowledge, develop geometric thinking and problem solving ability . For this reason, geometry has positioned a big place in school education as a part of mathematics education from preschool education to higher school education (Ubuz, Üstün, & Erbaş, 2009). Similarly, geometry can be defined as one of the content area in mathematics (MONE, 2013). For this reason, for all elementary and middle grades students’ are exposed to geometry
