There are many different types of people who make up the immigrant population. In the United States, if you are seeking an adjustment of status, or apply for an immigration visa aboard, you will need an immigration physical exam. If you are an immigrant, refugee, or seek a status change, you should seek out a medical examination from a Civil Surgeon, designated by the United States Citizenship & Immigration Services.
Medical eligibility is a legal mandate. and a failure to provide the necessary information can create a delay or a rejection of immigrant visas. During the immigration physical examination, the claimant must show their passport (or other photo identification) and appointment letter to the doctor. The exam will include a review of medical history, the actual physical examination, chest X-ray and blood tests for syphilis. Moreover, the physical will at least include the inspection of ears, nose and throat, eyes, heart, lungs, extremities, abdomen, lymph nodes, skin and external genitalia.
