The Gallup-Purdue Index Report discovered that only 39% of the over 30,000 college graduates surveyed had experienced a number of elements of well-being as well as having felt engaged in their work (Great Lives 7). Interestingly, the study also found there was no difference if they attended a public, private, non-selective, or a highly selective institution (7). Therefore, the lives of UNF graduates are the same in job engagement and well-being as those of graduates from other colleges. However, the University of North Florida (“UNF”) must do more; the data summarized herein shows that less than half of UNF’s college graduates enjoy overall good lives.

One experience I think that has helped me prepare for the role of an Apprentice is my present job; this job has allowed me to work directly with both students and teachers in a school setting. This experience has allowed me to learn about school culture, creating curriculums around teamwork and has most of all allowed me to learn how to build rapport with students based of their interest and needs. Another experiences I have had that I think makes me a great candidate for this apprenticeship opportunity is being apart of the inaugural class of Guttman Community College. The reason why I make this claim is because being apart of this community taught me to take initiative, because there was no clubs and no platform furthermore, as inaugural

I have frequently tried to impact the lives of others through service, and found that each attempt has also had a profound impact on my own life. This phenomenon is especially true about my Congressional internship with the Hon. Nancy Pelosi, Democratic Leader of the House of Representatives. Working for Leader Pelosi, I learned that service is about the people who are served, and not just about abstract ideas. I learned to serve others best, not by acting as their savior, but rather as their partner- a partner that empowers them to live better lives.

People who know me have often called me eccentric. Although one might think this description is not a compliment, to me, “eccentric” is a word that reflects perfectly on my passion for baseball. Through baseball, I have made many friends in all gender, ages, and backgrounds. My passion for baseball has also opened up doors to new learning opportunities. I worked as a three-weeks summer intern at Sports Marketing Laboratory Inc. Throughout the internship, I completed three tasks; made a mock marketing presentation using numerical data that I obtained from Google Analytics, participated in operation of online baseball broadcasting service called “Pa League TV”, and made an hour presentation based on the material called “The Future of Sports
These interns spend the summer job shadowing the various gardeners on property and get a taste to see what it’s like to work for an entertainment company. “The students have a final presentation towards the end of their program,” explains Mickler. “One year, I had an issue with getting students in preparing their projects. They simply thought it was a waste of time. That was a challenge for me as I hadn’t had a group in years fail to prepare on time

Should unpaid internships be illegal? Well, there has been many opinions on this matter whether the interns should be paid or unpaid. I believe that interns benefit primarily on the experiences, which is why they receive no pay because they have no experience, which makes sense. Others many argue that paying interns in a work environment for on job training will benefit the employer and the intern. I have a firm belief that internships should not be illegal because internships do not require a full work week and majority of the time the internship is held through the college to receive a credit towards a degree, which in my belief replaces the pay with a lateral benefit.
. Glimpse into a Full-Time Job: As a college student, we can learn what type of work we want to do when we are graduate, but we may not know what the day-to-day looks like. An internship provides a glimpse into what the work is like and if we will like it or not. Internships provide real-life exposure to the work world and organization without committing an entire career.
