The mission for the Johnston Community College (JCC) Child Development Center is to produce an early childhood education that would meet the needs of the families whom are being served, by providing a nurturing environment for children to learn and grow. They believe in training teachers to work with young children in loving respectful ways, that would enrich their environment. The goal is to provide young children with the best care possible, and to aid the Early Education Students in becoming the next generation of Early Education Professionals.
Johnston Community College Child Development Center was established in 1998. It is an extension of the Early Childhood Education department. The center serves students in the program, parents attending classes at the college, as well as families of the community who maybe in need of a quality care center. The students attending Johnston Community College (JCC) can complete their practicum course at the center. The student teachers work in conjunction with the Child Development Center staff, and learn how to observe, care for, and effectively work with young children in an …show more content…

I can learn more about leadership and other aspects of a workplace. I will learn what I like most and do not like about the job and try to find ways to make improvements. I can develop a better view of what I want when I search for jobs. Internship gives me a hands-on chance to apply the education and knowledge that I have gained from college to real experiences. It can help strengthen my professional skills. I can use my internship as a reference from a supervisor and others at the company to help enhance my resume. My internship will help me enhance my people and professionalism skills. I must keep in mind, that Internships are merely stepping stone to help advance my career. I realize that internships are designed to offer real life learning
