The Importance of Leadership and the Army Profession in the U.S. Army This informative essay aims to inform the reader of leadership and the U.S. Army profession. The U.S. Army is a combat–ready land force built for completing missions by "Organizing, Equipping and training Army Forces" (U.S. Army, 2012. p 32). The Army Profession creates the building blocks to complete these tasks. Army professionalism provides leadership to their Soldier and conducts themselves to the Army Ethic. Army Professionals are trusted with the responsibility of completing their mission. The U.S. Army defines leadership as "influencing people by providing purpose, direction, and motivation to accomplish the mission and improve the organization“(U.S. army, 2012. p 27). The Army Professional reflected their five characteristics: Trust, Honorable Service, Military Expertise, Stewardship, and Esprit de Corps (U.S. Army, 2012. p 16). All Army professionals are leaders; these are what leaders expect to be. They must have a fighting spirit. They must trust each other; that is the foundation of all relationships. They must be stewards to improve the Army that will better everyone in it. To have military expertise to be better equipped for their duties.
