Yes, I do think that market relationships in capitalism the U.S. has gone too far. It is mainly enjoyed by the companies and owners. As companies produce products or services, they earn profit through sales. Profits may be distributed to owners (often individuals to shareholders), saved in a financial institution, given as bonuses to top managers or workers, and/or reinvested in the company in hope of future profits to make the company grow. (Peoples p177-178) I do agree with the critics with the way that nearly every aspect of American life is commercialized. Thanks to the influence of television and movies, people all over with access to them can see and learn about each other and of course the American way of life, commercializing it in the process. For the vast majority of people, movies and television are the primary means of education for the world beyond their experience. They are also the major marketing tool for the products of the global economy, creating ever-growing "need" for material goods. (Peoples p86) I do think the U.S. market only benefits the small elite. Until recently a lot of us were brought up by our parents and family that a normal American family consists of two parents, mother and father (male and female), a brother and a sister and gay marriages let alone relationships were sordid affairs that one does not speak of in polite company or even in public.
